The US government is protecting the real Lockerbie bomber, who was ordered to plant explosives on the infamous Pan Am fight in 1988 in an act of terror that was ordered by Iran's Ayatollah Khomeini and not Muammar Gaddafi, it has been claimed.
Douglas Boyd, author of Lockerbie: The Truth, writes that the real bomber is now working at a school in the US under the name Basel Bushnaq.
The claim brings to light questions about the original version of events involving Abdelbaset Al-Megrahi, who told police he had crashed the jet on the orders of the Libyan dictator.
Gadaffi admitted liability in 2003 and was ordered to pay £1.7billion compensation for the horrendous act, which has been subbed Britain's worst terrorist attack that killed all 270 people on board.

It also raises further questions on the credibility of star witness Tony Gauci, who had also identified Megrahi in the aftermath.
Mr Gauci said at the time that he had sold Megrahi clothing found wrapped around the bomb which exploded as flight Pan Am 103 flew over Scotland.
Mr Guaci had also been accuse of receiving cash in connection with the inquiry.
Mr Boyd’s book claims the real person behind the terror attack was Abu Elias, who had acting on the orders the Iranian government.

The flight had been travelling from Frankfurt to Detroit via London and New York when N739PA, the aircraft operating the transatlantic leg of the route, was destroyed by a bomb.
Everybody on board, including the 16 crew members, were killed after the plane exploded and parts of the aircraft crashed not different residential areas of Lockerbie.
Libyan intelligence officer Megrahi was jailed for life after being found guilty of 270 counts of murder in connection with the bombing.
He was released in 2009 from the Scottish government on compassionate grounds after being diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer.
