Iran: Tears Of Domestic Producers
By Staff Writer
A garment manufacturer, referring to the historic trend in Iran, stated that Iranians have only used Iranian products in past years and there were no signs of imported goods or clothes being smuggled into the country, and added, what has happened in this country that has brought Iranian producers to their knees?
In an interview with the State-run News Agency Tasnim on May 5, 2018, Mohammad Khaze’e, reminding that the raw material used in textiles is imported and with the inflation rate and falling currency production units are faced with many problems and difficulties, he added: previously Iran had a notable ranking in the cotton production sector but lack of infrastructure has led to dependence on imported material.
Arguing that the lack of support by Hassan Rouhani’s government from the textile industry has left them with many problems, he added: "While we face this lack of attention, in other countries, not only do they offer feasible facilities; they are offered support for tariffs and even granted rewards for exports. Today the tears of domestic producers are streaming due to lack of support.
Pointing that today some manufacturers are forging foreign brands and selling their products in the name of reputable foreign brands in the market, he said: Interestingly, there are a number of other products with fake brands, with orders to China. This has made it difficult for reputable apparel manufacturers.
Referring to the prominent Iranian brands that are no longer on the market today, he said: at a time garment manufacturing was an art in this country and the manufacturers had a special place, but why are they in this position today and suffering.
