Iran: Student protests in Tehran, Tabriz
A group of young women and men, students of Tehran's Melli (aka Beheshti) University, staged a protest on Monday, May 7, 2018, against the university's decision to receive tuition from students. They also protested the absence of student associations.
In a similar development in Tabriz, a large group of students staged a protest on Sunday, May 6, 2018, in front of the university's central building against the new policy of receiving tuition from students, the university's repressive conditions, and its failure to provide adequate services. The students also demanded resignation of the university's president.
A number of students also protested the low quality of food by lining up their trays outside the university's restaurant.
