Follow up: Teachers' protest in a number of major Iranian cities


Iran, PMOI/ MEK, May 11, 2018 – According to the supplementary reports, a widespread teachers' protest was reported on Thursday, in major cities of Iran. Based on an advance call, teachers and protesters in Tehran demonstrated in front of the Budget and Planning Organization the capital city, and also other demonstration and in other cities in front of offices of the ministry of education.




These cities include: Isfahan, Qazvin, Tabriz, Kermanshah, Rasht, Mashhad, Shiraz, Sari, Bojnoord, Homayoon-Shahr, Kazeroon, Khorram-Abad, Mamasani, Behbahan, Marivan, Divan-Darreh, and Saqqez covering most of the central, southern and western part of the country.

In Tehran, the repressive state security forces, SSF, attacked the teachers' rally beat and harassed the protesters. Reports indicate that a number of protesters were arrested. Mr. Rassoul Bodaghi, a teacher who was imprisoned for 7 years for his political and human rights activities, and was just released last year, was rearrested. The SSF, as it was reported by eyewitnesses, attacked and severely beat and harassed women protesters injuring a number of them.

In Kazeroon, southern Iran, teachers and academicians rally chanting "Free the detained teacher."

In the city of Mamasani, also in the southern part of the country, teachers and the people hung a banner at the front door of the local office of ministry of education with this sign on it, "the teacher's place is in the classroom not behind the wheels of taxis."
