Iran: Young women’s unemployment rate doubles that of men
According to the latest figures compiled by the National Statistics Center of Iran, the rate of unemployment among young women between 20 and 30 years of age is double that of men in the same age range.
Iran’s state-run media have pointed out that the trend of unemployment among youths shows that young women have always had a higher rate of unemployment and the gap has become wider in recent years. (The state-run Asr-e Iran website – December 20, 2017)
Although the Iranian regime has been continuously admitting that women’s unemployment rate has increased, it deceptively lowers the rate.
Iran’s Statistics Center announced the rate of unemployment among young women in summer 2017 as 50% while it had declared in summer 2016 that the unemployment rate among young women under 30 years of age is 85.9%. (The state-run Fars news agency – August 15, 2016)
