International Committee in Search of Justice (ISJ) warns against the conspiracies of the Iranian regime in Albania against Iranian refugees, members of the PMOI, and urges the Albanian Government and the UNHCR to strongly condemn these plots and not to let the health and safety of these Iranian refugees be compromised.
1. On April 19, 2017, the Iranian regime’s Embassy expressed its outrage and frustration from the meeting of Senator John McCain and Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, and repeated a series of false claims against the Iranian Resistance. This indicates Iran’s ominous goals against the Iranian Resistance.
2. According to documents published by the PMOI, the Iranian embassy is seeking to employ defectors of the PMOI and enlisting them against Iranian refugees in this country. On April 23, one of these people who was trapped by the regime’s embassy revealed in a letter that the embassy had told him they would give him $300 per month to provide information about the PMOI. He also wrote: "The clerical regime's embassy in Albania, whose Ambassador is Gholam Hossein Mohammadnia, a veteran element of the notorious Ministry of Intelligence (Secret Service), is seeking to spy and employ defectors in Albania, to enlist them against the organization". He added that "the clerical regime's embassy in Albania drags people to spy against the PMOI with bribery and money ".
3. Another individual revealed on April 29 how the Iranian embassy in Tirana approached him and wrote: “Later I found out that the MOIS has pressured my family to mobilize them against the PMOI.”
4.Another person revealed on May 1 how the embassy in Tirana tried to create a petition against the PMOI through which to exert pressure on Iranian refugees in this country.
While the Iranian regime has failed to reach its goal to massacre all of the PMOI members in Camp Ashraf and after in Camp Liberty, it tries to advance its dirty conspiracy against them in Albania. It is reported that the regime has basically replaced its embassy’s employees in Tirana with intelligence agents for the very same cause. In this regard the ISJ stresses on the following points:
A. Intelligence agents and spies of the Iranian regime must be expelled from the country. This is necessary for the security and safety of Iranian refugees and the security and prosperity of the people of Albania and in line with the decision of the Council of the European Union in April 1997.
B. Any former resident of Camp Liberty who is in connection with the Iranian regime embassy or its officers and agents clearly does not face any risk in Iran, must not be considered a refugee and must be deported.
