Maryam Rajavi: Dealing with the Clerical Regime is Against the People of Iran and Global Peace and Security

March, 31, 2018 - A Nowruz gathering was held on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at the UK Parliament in the presence of a number of members of both Houses of the Parliament, British lawyers and political dignitaries as well as representatives of the Iranian Community in Britain. In a video message to this meeting, Maryam Rajavi praised the efforts of UK parliamentarians and personalities in support of the Iranian people’s aspirations for freedom and democracy.
Following is the text of her remarks:
Honorable members of the Houses of Lords and Commons,
Distinguished personalities,
Dear friends,
I would like to express my appreciation for your participation in the Iranian New Year celebration and your efforts in support of the Iranian people’s aspirations for freedom and democracy.
This is encouraging for the people of Iran, particularly the youths who have risen up against the mullahs in recent months. They are encouraged by your friendship.
In Persian culture, the beginning of the New Year heralds the end of darkness and despair. There were several important developments last year:
• Contrary to the propaganda by the regime’s appeasers, Hassan Rouhani repeatedly praised Khamenei, the IRGC, the missile program, and the regime’s war in Syria in his second term.
• The regime accelerated its missile program and stepped up its aggressions in the Middle East.
• The Iranian economy experienced further recession and the country’s official currency lost 25 percent of its value.
• At the same time, the Iranian people suffered even greater poverty, hunger, and unemployment.
As far as the Iranian people and the Resistance were concerned, there were also important developments:
• The Iranian Resistance advanced its strategy by further expanding its network inside Iran, establishing more centers of rebellion to launch the uprisings.
• The PMOI reorganized after leaving Iraq.
• And finally, by the end of December, the people of Iran rose up in a major uprising, which quickly spread to 142 cities with calls for regime change. As Khamenei and other regime leaders acknowledged, the uprising was organized by the PMOI.
The uprisings and protests are continuing. Since January, the Iranian people have staged numerous daily protests and strikes in cities across the country. These include a general strike in Kurdistan, the continuing protests by the Steel workers of Ahwaz and workers of Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane factory, the large-scale protests by farmers in Isfahan as well as numerous protests by people who had be defrauded.
These protests have shaken the regime to its foundation. They have also created new circumstances in Iran, showing that the situation will never return to what it was before the uprising on December 28, 2017.
Distinguished Peers and Members of Parliament,
The people of Iran have risen up for regime change. This development will bring freedom to Iran and security to the world. My compatriots, therefore, expect western governments, particularly the UK, to change their policy and take practical and concrete action to help the Iranian people.
They expect that their struggle for the overthrow of the clerical regime is recognized. They also expect that the National Council of Resistance of Iran, the alternative to the clerical regime, is recognized.
They expect the world powers to predicate their relations with the mullahs on an end to torture and executions. The regime and the IRGC must be expelled from the Middle East region.
The mullahs must be compelled to abandon their missile program. Their uranium enrichment must be brought to a complete halt and the regime forced to accept unconditional inspections of all military and nuclear sites. The regime’s access to the international banking system must also be cut off.
Let’s make it clear that the partner to European trade is essentially the IRGC and agencies affiliated with the mullahs’ supreme leader. These deals are against the interests of the people of Iran and against peace and security in the region.
These important steps contribute to the establishment of freedom in Iran and help remove many immediate threats the world is presently facing.
The National Council of Resistance of Iran is striving to establish a republic based on the separation of religion and state, gender equality, autonomy of various ethnic groups in the framework of Iran’s national integrity and abolition of the death penalty, and a non-nuclear Iran that would coexist in peace and friendship with other countries.
Thank you all very much

Why Isn't Iran Regime Trying To Lay Low

NCRI Staff
NCRI - Given the massive anti-regime protest movement that has taken over Iran in recent months and the mounting international pressure that has been largely instigated by the US, you’d think that the mullahs might tone down their malign speech and actions.
Yet still, the Iran-backed Houthi militants in Yemen launched seven ballistic missiles at Saudi Arabia this past weekend, killing at least one person and injuring two.
It is likely that, as in previous attacks, Iran made and supplied these ballistic missiles in violation of two UN resolutions. The Houthis don’t have the ability to make them and no other close allies to supply them.
This has brought much negative international attention onto Iran, who more than likely ordered the attacks, and brought condemnation from the Middle East, the European Union, the United Nations and the United States.
Even the UK, which seeks better trading relations with Iran, issued a joint statement of condemnation from Foreign Minister Boris Johnson and International Development Secretary Penny Mordaunt, which questioned why Iran was involving itself in the Yemeni Civil War at all.
The statement also called on Iran to stop transferring weapons into Yemen, which of course will have no effect on the mullahs. Directly after this, the mullahs threatened to destroy Israel.
It’s not that no one in the Regime is attempting to save face. Many mullahs are voicing platitudes, which make it seem like they are willing to compromise, but they won’t. Besides, what is the compromise between freedom and oppression for the Iranian people?
It’s not like Iran is unaware that the malign moves, like having a terrorist cell launch missiles against Saudi Arabia, will hurt its future survival. They’ve been warned before about meddling in the Middle East and they know this jeopardises the future of the nuclear deal, which they desperately need in order to remain in power, but maybe they see the writing on the wall.
The Iranian Regime knows that its time is running out.
Afte all, the people revolting in the streets and calling for the heads of their oppressors; this protest movement has significantly weakened the Regime.
Human rights activist Heshmat Alavi wrote on Forbes: “Domestic circumstances are changing significantly following the December protests surge across Iran. Tehran’s rulers understand better than anyone their apparatus lacks the capacity to withstand a return to pre-JCPOA sanctions. The status quo is taking its toll on the regime’s day-to-day affairs, let alone with sanctions suffocating the economy.”
Meanwhile, the US is getting tougher on Iran with additional sanctions and rhetoric. The US will also likely grind the Iranian economy to a halt soon by pulling out of the nuclear deal; a move that will only spur on regime change in Iran.

Iran Regime's Nuclear Negotiator: America's Foreign Policy Agenda Is Regime Change In Iran

Iran Regime's Nuclear Negotiator: America's Foreign Policy Agenda Is Regime Change In Iran

NCRI Staff
NCRI - Iranian regime’s senior nuclear negotiator and former diplomat said the hostility between the Islamic Republic and the United States has always existed, but the policy of regime change in the Trump administration became public. He claims that an unprecedented alliance between the United States, Israel and Saudi is formed to implement this policy.
The nuclear negotiator, Hossein Mousavian, on Friday March 30 in an interview with state-run ISNA news agency stated that the US government has been denouncing the regime over the past decades with titles such as “Axis of Evil”, “State Sponsor of Terrorism”, “Rogue State”, “The State of Hatred”, and “Interventionist Government.”
At the same time, the state-run Mizan news agency affiliated to the regime’s judiciary quoted a speech by the regime’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, in which a main theme is to describe the “hostility” of the United States towards Iran.

According to the report, Khamenei on October 2, 2016, in a meeting with a group of high school and university students said that Iran (Regime) has big and small enemies and added: “The one (country) that I emphasize on is the United States, which is our enemy in the real sense of the word and shows hostility and malice. This (what I am saying) is not biased; it is not from a cynical perspective; it is from experience, a true understanding of the facts and seeing the field.”
Mousavian claims that the United States’ strategy from the 1979 revolution has been a regime change in Iran, and only during the nuclear talks, Barack Obama was the first and only US president to officially announce at the United Nations General Assembly that he was not pursuing this.
“The official and operational alliance created by the triangle of Tel Aviv, Washington, and Riyadh-Abu Dhabi in coordination with the Trump administration is unprecedented in the whole period of Iran-US relations after the revolution,” Mousavian added.
Mousavian, in response to the question of whether the popular protests in January has prompted the United States to publicly support regime change in Iran from the inside, said: “Do not doubt that the triangle has a detailed list of follow-up actions that demonstrations in Iran, factional feuding among Iranian officials, the domestic problems of Iran especially the economic and social problems, and the problems of other countries, especially neighbouring and regional countries with Iran, are among them.”
The popular protests and uprising began with the slogan of “no to high prices” but soon turned into slogans against corruption and dictatorship that targeted the regime and Khamenei on top of the regime.
The media and officials of the regime have previously said that the protesters have been chanting “deconstructive” slogans and, of course, attributing this part of the slogans to the provocation by “foreign enemies” and outbound media.
Emad Afroogh, a former representative of the regime’s parliament and professor of sociology at Tarbiat Modarres University, recently said that the January protests are due to the realm of the society and the rising dissatisfaction of the citizens. According to surveys, over 80% of the population consider economic problems as their most important concern.

Iran: Spread Of Protests By Ahvaz Residents To Other Cities Of Khuzestan Province

Iran: Spread Of Protests By Ahvaz Residents To Other Cities Of Khuzestan Province

A large number of protesters arrested; call for their release
On Thursdays and Fridays, March 29 and 30, the rallies of Iranian Arab citizens in Ahvaz and other cities of Khuzestan continued to protest the repressive and discriminatory policies of the clerical regime.
Police mercenaries and anti-riot guards threw tear gas and attacked demonstrators in the city of Kut Abdullah with batons and opened fire at them. Clashes between people and repressive forces continued for hours.
On Friday night, protest rallies of Iranian Arab citizens against the religious fascism ruling Iran spread to some other cities such as Abadan, Mahshahr, Hamidiyeh and Sheyban.

During the anti-government protests in Ahvaz and other cities, a large number of people, especially young people, were arrested. Groups of women are among those arrested.
In yet another development, the workers of the Haft Tapeh Sugar Cane Complex gathered outside the factory on Friday for the fourth straight day of their new round of protests. This protest rally continued until night. The day before, the city of Shoush was the host to the protest of the workers. They moved to the governorate of Shoush with cars and motorbikes. Four workers were arrested on Thursday in clashes with law police and intelligence forces.
The Iranian Resistance calls on the international human rights organizations to condemn the repressive actions of the mullahs’ regime and to take urgent action for the release of the arrested in the recent protests.
