The Revolutionary Guards are on the black list of people of earthquake-stricken areas +clip with english subtitle
Following the 7.3-magnitute earthquake in western Iran and Kermanshah province, and the large number of casualties it left behind, Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) chief Mohammad Ali Jafari went to the area to claim the IRGC has rushed to provide aid, and depicting it as a popular organization with the objective of discrediting its terrorist designation.
Yet recent, when Iranian President Hassan Rouhani went to the earthquake area and in his remarks he referred to the IRGC and paramilitary Bassij as entities who rushed to the people’s support. His words were met with strong protests.
Rouhani, who didn’t even dare depart the vehicle and enter the crowd, was talking to the people from a vehicle with heavy security. All measures were taken to prevent any attack on him by protesters who were furious after not receiving any relief.
Rouhani: For all those injured in this incident we thank the dear people of this province and across Iran for being next to each other, helping each other. The first support was provided by you, for your own brothers and sisters, and then all the rescue crews stood beside you, government forces, armed forces of the army, IRGC, Bassij… (Strong protests)
Rouhani’s bodyguards: Hey, quiet, quiet, hey, quiet
Rouhani: Well, anyhow, everyone was and will be along your side
This shows that Jafari and the IRGC and Bassij forces dispatched to the area were not sent to provide any support, but to prevent any possible protests by the earthquake stricken locals. This protest staged by the people shows how the IRGC has no support amongst the Iranian people and is blacklisted by this populace.
