UK: Nowruz gathering in the British Parliament
UK, March 30, 2018 - Parliament members from all British parties participated in the Iranian New Year 's celebration gathering in the British parliament, and expressed their support for a democratic change in Iran. British parliamentarians supported the recognition of the National Council of Resistance of Iran ( NCRI ), as the democratic alternative to the religious dictatorship in Iran.
Political dignitaries, former leaders of workers' unions in the UK, distinguished lawyers, and human rights advocates, participated in this gathering along with members of Iranian associations in UK.
Speakers called upon the British government to take strong steps in the United Nations and take the horrendous Iranian regime's dossier of human rights violations to the UN Security Council.
In a video message to the gathering, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi , president of the National Council of Resistance of Iran expressed her appreciation towards members of the houses of lords and commons, for their support of the demands of the Iranian people for freedom and democracy.
Mrs. Rajavi said: 'The people of Iran have risen for change. This is a development that will bring freedom to Iran, and security to the whole world.'
'The Iranian people expect their struggle for regime change in Iran to be recognized. They expect the NCRI to be recognized as the alternative to this regime,' Mrs. Rajavi added.
